Baracara Island Resort
Your trips begins with a 900 horse powered jet boat cruise
along the Essequibo river passing Dutch ruins, the Benedictine monks
dwelling, the penal settlement and smaller boats carrying families and
lone miners up and down the river. Stops at the ruined forts and the
mining town of Bartica may be offered if time permits.

Located some 5 miles up the Mazaruni River at the junction of
the Cuyuni and Mazaruni Rivers, Baracara Island Resort is set on a secluded
island, the thick rainforest foliage its backdrop. The sprawling rustic timber
lodge is surrounded by a sparkling white sand beach which leads to the
wonderfully cool dark waters of the Mazaruni. The resort offers six airy en
suite rooms and one family suite. More simple accommodation is facilitated in
Rook Hut which has electricity but no running water. Camping facilities along
with jungle camp outs are also available.

A spacious lounge and open deck allow for
relaxation and socializing or try a game of pools. Go swimming, jet-ski,
play volleyball on the beach, sunbathe or relax. Just a short distance away,
on the mainland is the Baracara Falls. Recessed in the rainforest, you can
relax in the gently tumbling waters of this small stepped falls and explore
the rainforest nearby.
